Services
Below are some of the services I provide most frequently. If you are interested in a service that is not listed here, please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss if I would be a good fit for your project.

Prices vary depending on the length of the project and the amount of work required. The price will always be finalized before editing begins.
CONTENT EDITING
This service involves looking at the overall structure and flow of your work. This includes but is not limited to revising, reordering, cutting, or expanding material as well as clarifying plot, characterization, or thematic elements. I will ensure that your message and voice are consistent throughout, and that you are speaking in a way that will appeal to your intended audience.

Content editing does not inherently deal with line-by-line issues such as spelling and grammar. Upon request, this service can be combined with copy editing to address these concerns.
COPY EDITING
Copy editing focus entirely on line-by-line issues such as spelling, grammar, and other mechanics of style. This includes but is not limited to ensuring consistency in mechanics and facts, flagging permissions that may need to be obtained, and (when needed) marking formatting such as levels of headings and approximate placement of images.

Copy editing does not inherently deal with overarching issues such as story or plot. Upon request, this service can be combined with content editing to address these concerns.
MANUSCRIPT REVIEW
This service is intended to guide the writer as to how to move forward with their work. This includes but is not limited to assessing clarity, voice, audience appropriateness, characterization, dialogue, setting, plot, structure, subject relevance, believability, research required, and potential legal issues.
This service does NOT include any edits made directly in the work; instead, you will be given a list of recommendations for you to consider while revising your writing.
PROOFREADING
This service involves checking a finished work (ideally already laid out in the final formatting) for errors missed during other rounds of editing. This includes but is not limited to checking spelling, grammar, formatting, adherence to the style guide, and consistency and accuracy of the material.

Please note that proofreading is best for works that have already gone through at least one round of editing. If your work has not been edited before, then copy editing is a better choice.
